7 Quick Ways to Freshen Up your Home

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you need a quick fix? Whether it’s a glass of wine, a day of endless naps, or just decluttering and freshening up your home, we all have our own ways of refreshing and decompressing. But if freshening up your home is your way of decompressing, you’ve come to the right place. And no, you don’t need to revamp your house in order to freshen it up. Here are 7 quick and easy ways you can freshen up your home in no time:

1. Purchase a new plant

There have been studies done on the benefits of indoor plants. Turns out, indoor plants can boost our mood and creativity while reducing air pollution and stress. Oh, and, indoor plants just happen to make for great home décor, too! Plus, what else screams fresh more than a new plant? Yep, I’m not sure either…

2. Buy a new candle/diffuser

Scents are one of those things that make you feel subconsciously good while also creating a great ambience. You probably already have candles in your home, but freshening up your space means adding a new fresh scent! In with the new, out with the old… You feel me? And then there’s the diffusers. Some people prefer diffusers over candles and that’s understandable. Either way, both have pretty much the same purpose… to make your space feel/smell fresh and clean. So, it’s completely up to you to make that decision or treat yourself and buy both!

3. Update your décor

You’d be surprised at what changing a small detail in your home feels like. Because we’re so used to looking at the same things every day, changing up just one or two details alone already makes such a difference! Think about that feeling you get when you’ve just bought yourself a new pair of earrings or necklace and although it’s not that big of deal, it enhances your mood and makes you feel good! So, if there’s something you’ve had your eye on for quite some time, here is your sign to go and BUY IT!

4. Rotate your art

Again, we’re used to what we’re used to and change isn’t something we’re ever super excited about. But sometimes, change is exactly what we need! Even if it’s as simple as moving around your art, it makes all the difference. The vibe of the space changes slightly, making room for inspiration and creativity. Maybe you realize that certain artworks look better next to each other or that adding one more could make the perfect addition. Either way, you won’t know till you try.

5. DECLUTTER!

This one might be obvious, but let me tell you….. the satisfaction you get from decluttering is no joke. Even if it’s just as simple as cleaning your dishes, dusting, vacuuming, getting rid of things that no longer serve you, it’s all good stuff. It makes you feel refreshed and clean while boosting your productivity. Don’t see it as a chore, see it as a mood and productivity booster and watch how often you start de-cluttering!

6. Buy some new cookware/kitchen gadgets

If you’re an avid chef, this one’s for you. Although buying new cookware is not the cheapest of things, it’s still less than you’d spend going to restaurants for a week. Plus, your new cookware will excite you in so many ways. One, it’s fresh and super clean. Two, it’ll probably inspire you to get more creative with your cooking. And three, you can finally buy those extra kitchen gadgets you’ve been wanting but have seen no actual point in buying! Take this as an opportunity to go all out so that you can be super comfortable and well fed in your space.

7. Find better storage solutions

You know those things you so desperately need but can’t fit anywhere so you just leave them wherever they fit? Bad idea. This subconsciously is causing you stress which is why it’s time to figure out some clever storage solutions. Here are a couple:

-If your bed is not too low to the ground, store some stuff down there!

-For kitchen stuff, your oven is a great place to store extra cookware, trays, and gadgets.

-Add shelves to your walls in your bathroom and make them double as home décor. You can add little plants to spiff it up while using the shelves for your everyday essentials. For example, q-tips, make up remover, candles, cotton swabs, etc. And no, don’t limit the spaces you add shelves too. You can put shelves on any wall and far more places than just your bathroom!

-Buy multifunctional furniture – this one’s a big one. If you could buy a coffee table that also turns into a desk and lifts up to accommodate storage space, why would you choose to buy a coffee table and a desk separately? Not only will multifunctional furniture save you space and money, but multifunctional furniture is just as attractive as regular furniture! Sounds like a win-win to me.
