The perfect appetizer, snack, and main course: dumplings! And contrary to popular belief, they’re easy and enjoyable to make. If you’re looking for a cute date night activity, dumplings are a fun option! Besides that, you can freeze the leftover filling and make new one’s whenever you like. This is my personal recipe. I mostly eye-balled the amount per ingredient but I’ll try to give you my best estimates. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
Ingredients
Filling:Â
1. Ground Chicken 2. Scallions 3. Shiitake Mushrooms 4. Ginger 5. Garlic 6. Cabbage 7. Soy Sauce 8. Salt 9. Pepper 10. Pre-made Wonton Wraps (you can buy these at whole foods or your local asian market) Â
1. Dice 3/4 cup of cabbage 2. Dice 3/4 cup of shiitake mushrooms 3. Skin your ginger 4. dice 1/4 cup of ginger 5. Dice 3/4 cup of scallions 6. Dice 4 cloves of garlic 7. Put your ground chicken into a bowl and add all the ingredients above 8. Add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 9. Mix with your hands – WELL! 10. Grab your wonton wraps 11. Pour yourself a glass of water 12. Add a tiny bit of filling to the wrap 13. Dip your fingers in water and rub two sides of the wrap 14. Seal the dumpling tightly!
For the sauce:Â
15. Chop up some scallions 16. Mince 4 cloves of garlic 17. Add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce 18. Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce 19. Add 2 tsp of rice vinegar 20. Add 2 tsp of sesame seeds 21. Add 2 tsp of red pepper flakes 22. Add half a cup of HOT vegetable oil 23. Stir well!
Cooking the dumplings:
24. Heat the pan with vegetable oil 25. Add as many dumplings as you can fit 26. Fry for 2 minutes (or until golden brown) 27. Add 1/4 cup water, add the lid, and steam for 3-4 minutes. They’re ready when the water has absorbed. 28. Add sauce on top and serve!
