There is nothing more annoying than looking for a piece of jewelry in a pool of tangled necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, etc. Finding a place to store your jewelry can be tough without an organizer. Beyond that, organizers ensure pieces are not lost or damaged, can hold up to as many pieces as you’d like (depending on the size of the box), make your jewelry easily accessible, and even divide them by style (earrings go with earrings, necklaces go with necklaces.)
But with so many jewelry organizers out there, how can you be sure you’re picking the right one?
By considering the following:
– Capacity: How many pieces of jewelry do you own at the moment and how frequently do you buy more? Do you buy rings and earrings more than you buy necklaces? What section/compartment will you need more of? Ring compartments or necklace compartments? It’s important to make sure you’re choosing an organizer that can accommodate your collection so that you don’t have to buy another one in 3 months.
– Price: You don’t need to spend a hefty sum to get a good organizer because quality ones are reasonably priced. You just need to know what’s being offered out there which is what I’m here for!
–Material/Durability: Luckily for you, your material options are not limited! Whether it’s fabric, plastic, glass, wood, etc., the choice is yours. Experts say that wooden organizers are the most popular because wood is said to keep moisture from building up inside the box, keeping your jewels more protected. Some prefer glass over wood because it’s easier to see what’s in the box, but then again, glass can easily break. I personally prefer fabric trays because they have a smooth feel, will not break if they fall, and you can keep adding trays the more jewelry you buy. Decent to good quality boxes will last you a while if taken proper care of.
–Lock or no lock: Here’s the thing with locks. Though they are secure and will make it difficult to get inside your jewelry box, you’ll have to go through the hassle of unlocking it every time you want to grab something from the box. Additionally, just because you have a lock doesn’t mean someone can’t just grab the entire box and go. So, if you want my advice, it would be to take your most valuable pieces and put them in a safe and leave your less valuable pieces in your jewelry box without a lock.
–Type/style: Where do you plan on putting the organizer? Will it be in a place where others can see it? Do you want your jewelry organizer to match the aesthetic of the room it’s placed in? What style of jewelry organizer do you want? A hanging one, a wall mounted one, a tray, a box? Don’t get overwhelmed, I’ve explained the pros and cons of each one below! 🙂
