For those that don’t know, Jonathan Adler is an American interior decorator, author and potter. He was born in Farm town, New Jersey and earned his degree in semiotics and art history at Brown University. He moved to New York in the 90’s and started working in the movie business, though it didn’t last long. 3 years in, he decided to quit and become a potter, where he came up with the idea of starting his own company – “Jonathan Adler.” In 1994, he showed his first pot to Barneys and received his first order. In 98, he opened his first store in Soho, New York City, and it has gone nothing but up since. His style is a combination of classicism and witticism. The brand strives to create luxe interiors that don’t take themselves too seriously.
I have known about Jonathan Adler for about 5 years now. His acrylic pill was the first piece I ever saw of his. Incredibly inspired by it, I’ve made an effort to keep up with all his newest collections and styles. He’s one of my go-to brands for inspiration and shopping for home décor. His brand is also one I frequently recommend to people who ask me where to shop for home décor, hence why I decided to write this blog post.
